The Word Art

There’s something nice about the word, art. It has a cultured ring to it. Art is an expression of one’s self, self image, character, or how they see the world around them. It takes the imagination to another level. Art forms it’s own opinions, and lets those seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling, or tasting it, form an opinion too.

Looking at the sky light up during a fireworks display; going to an art museum for just the Renoir exhibit; watching someone paint a scene that has been painted before, only differently; tasting cuisine that might never have been introduced if that trip to Niagra Falls hadn’t taken place. Riding the roller coaster at Six Flags. All of these sights, sounds, and events constitute art – and many more.

If you’ve ever visited Greenfield Village, in Michigan, then you have missed a multitude of art. There are old cars and old houses that are no bigger than three telephone booths that whole families used to live in, and machinery that was built and operated before the turn of the century. So much for the eye to see. The shear beauty of it all makes you thinkg of it artistically.

There are old taverns, saloons, barber shops, shoe-shine stands, hitching posts, general stores, stables, and old money that takes you back to a time long since past, but is so full of information that just can’t be ignored. And, it’s beautiful, to boot! Any sort of art or artistry, is worth checking out. Art can be in a building’s architecture, or even in an ice cream stand. Whether it is a waterfall, a babbling brook, or the Atlantic Ocean, the art is in the eye of the beholder.

The art of the chase is in the criminal. The art of fast, is in the car racer. The art of music is in the musician. And the art of expression is experienced every day when we cut someone off on the road, use our middle finger for something other than lacing our shoes, and use white-out when an error is made on important paperwork.

Yes, art is a wonderful thing! Its not just one thing, that makes art, art – it’s vast and wide, clear and clean, muddy and unclear, shallow and deep. You see, it’s not just one thing but a culmination of many things for many people. If it were simple to explain, it probably wouldn’t even be considered art in the first place. The fact that almost no one see’s art the same way makes it one of the most unique expressions of life that there ever will be. Life itself, is art!

Seriously now, who can live without art? Even children love it — don’t they make an expression of it every day in so many ways. They hit on kitchen pots and pans; that’s music. They waste elements of food all over the floor; that’s resentment. And they wail out loud sometimes for no reason at all; that’s singing or citing an unknown artist. So keep in mind that art is as complex today as it has been throughout time, and yet, it keeps getting props.
